Hi! I’m Megan Eldridge, Occupational Therapist and Founder of Scribble 2 Script. After having worked in several different pediatric settings, I realized that there were a lot of kids in what I call the “grey area” that were struggling with handwriting/fine motor skills but didn’t qualify for additional services in the school. These children could make huge gains with targeted, short term intervention and be on their way to classroom success. Perfect!
HOW THE PROGRAM DEVELOPED
During the summer of 2003 I set out to do my first Handwriting Camp with 15 kids. Surprisingly it grew to over 250 over the years.
Then, I started offering after school classes and Scribble 2 Script grew into a year-round business.
One afternoon a parent asked if we could work with their child 1-on-1 instead of in a small group. Hum…another good concept.
I went to work developing a program to work with kids 1-to-1 and it turned out to be hit with families.
In fact, it was so successful that we just offer 1-to-1 treatment sessions today.
Parents are thrilled, the kids are confident and successful writers and those of us at Scribble 2 Script have smiles on our faces on a daily basis. What fun!
THE NAME
How did I come up with the name? I sat down with my trusty Thesaurus (I’m an English major at heart) and looked up all of the words that described handwriting.
I initially wrote down “scribble” as a joke. The next word I saw was “script”…hum…scribble to script. That seemed to describe this concept to a perfectly.
